University Membership Application

For recognized universities and higher-education institutions applying for membership of the Global Platform for the South. The application records the institution's profile and its principal areas of interest in the network.

Purpose. Membership is the first step toward a long-term, results-oriented partnership with GPS, connecting knowledge production with innovation, enterprise, policy and action. It establishes the framework for institutional engagement and may lead to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) reflecting the institution's specific priorities and proposed areas of cooperation.

7 Institutional commitment

By submitting this application, the institution expresses its intention to:

  • Support GPS's mission as a South-led, transdisciplinary and trans-sectoral platform.
  • Participate in good faith in relevant GPS programmes, networks and collaborative initiatives.
  • Designate an institutional focal point and contribute, according to its capacities, to mutually agreed activities.
  • Promote reciprocal opportunities for students, academics, researchers, innovators and institutional partners.
  • Respect applicable laws, academic standards, research ethics, confidentiality, data protection and intellectual property.
  • Promote equality, inclusion and non-discrimination.
  • Recognize that membership is non-exclusive and that specific financial or legally binding commitments require separate written agreement.
8 Declaration and authorization

The typed name of the authorized representative constitutes an electronic signature. GPS may request a signed and stamped copy upon confirmation of membership.
